Thesis Abstract
My thesis project is an after school program for low income students in Alexandria, Louisiana. Based on the high school in that location, out of the 1,319 students the college readiness is scored 18.1%, and the students are economically disadvantaged by 54% with the total minority enrollment being 51%. In Alexandria, their childhoods are not fulfilling, they lost hope and sense of direction, and guidance for them to grow positively. By having a sense of guidance and stability through mentoring and career advancement opportunities, this facility will create a new beginning that will give the users the foundation they need to succeed. They will be able to learn from volunteer tutors, be able to gain job training to make money, as well as get opportunities to explore colleges for a look on what could be their future.
