Thesis Abstract

The purpose of this thesis was to brand a music festival that fundraises for type one diabetes research. The design draws inspiration from Milton Glaser’s illustrative style of the psychedelic rock era and incorporates elements of greek mythology to enhance the festival’s immersive experience. This project consisted of a complete brand identity, series of posters, map, event signage, animated website and app, wristbands, and promotional products.

The festival name, “Apollophoria” is a word combination derived from Apollo (referencing the Greek god of music and healing) and the word euphoria. It communicates that it’s a festival that will be full of energy, passion, and spirit as it celebrates the healing power of music. The saturated color palette visualizes this energy as each color symbolizes unique qualities of the festival. The universal icon for type one diabetes is a blue circle which is represented in the logo as well as festival activities like the Ferris wheel and swings. Targeting an audience aged 21-35, this event is powered by top organizations within the diabetic community and inspires this group to make a positive social impact.
