Thesis Abstract

How do you transition someone in a city that is cluttered and chaotic and bring them into a space of harmony and hospitality? By integrating biophilic design and new urbanism principles, Oasis on 6th will help sooth young urban professionals dealing with stress and anxiety from living and working in a city. In a time where personal life and work life are interwoven due to the recent Covid-19 pandemic, a flexible and calming residence is needed in New York City. When you walk through the front doors of Oasis on 6th everything becomes calm. Oasis on 6th is all about blurring the lines between retail and residential and creating spaces that feel like home instead of an office building. The goal of my thesis project is to design a connective community that will help to beautify New York City.
