Joseph Cerulle

Artist Biography

Joseph Cerulle is a graphic design major from Wakefield, Massachusetts who believes his graphic design journey truly began when he had downtime during study hall in his high school years. If all of his assignments were complete, he would open up Google Drawings and edit together various collages of characters he liked from all different kinds of media such as movies, video games, television shows, and more. As he neared the end of his high school years, he had no idea what field he wished to study until he realized that his time spent in Google Drawings could be turned into something more.

After graduating from Wakefield Memorial High School in 2021, Joseph started learning more about graphic design at North Shore Community College’s Lynn campus in Fall of that year. This was the point in his life where he began to take graphic design seriously and started to learn more about the other Adobe programs outside of Adobe Photoshop. Once he graduated from North Shore Community College in Spring 2023 and got his Associate’s Degree, he eventually found his way to Endicott College in Spring 2024 where he continued studying graphic design up until he got his Bachelor’s Degree upon graduating in Spring 2026. Joseph’s internship experience includes Sardella Signs in Spring 2023 and Summer 2024 and JAGUAR Graphics in fall 2025.

Thesis Abstract

The name V-Gamez is derived from the word video games but with its own unique spin on it. Originally created back in 2015 as a Google Slideshow, V-Gamez initially served as a group messaging board for Joseph and his friend group where they could post news and write little blurbs about video games they  enjoyed or were playing. Later on, it eventually became a Minecraft server and the name “V-Gamez” essentially served as the “brand” of his friend group at the time. The idea for this senior capstone project comes from this creation that Joseph considers to be his very first graphic design project.

The new V-Gamez project  focuses on a similar concept, instead turning it into an app as opposed to a messaging board or slideshow. The app would be managed by a team of writers and editors, not actual users. However, the community aspect does still remain through the ability to comment and reply to posts, articles, blogs, or gaming news that is found within our app. Users are also able to create their own accounts and customize the app to their liking through enabling or disabling filters in order to ensure a more tailored, personalized experience for each individual user. Since there are no gaming news apps out there in the world, V-Gamez could serve as a good, potential alternative to using social media since it focuses specifically on the gaming aspect of things. Many current gaming news outlets only have websites and not all mobile devices may display desktop only websites as well as they can be seen or engaged with on a computer.
