Emily Manny

Artist Biography

Emily is a graphic designer and photographer from upstate New York, graduating from Endicott College in May 2026 with a BFA in graphic design. Her life has always been about the consumption and creation of art, even since she was young. One of her fondest memories is watching Disney’s “The Aristocats” and being so drawn to the vibrant colors, the lively music, and the personality-filled animation. She strives to capture that same feeling in her own work – to inspire others with her art the same way art has inspired her.

In design, Emily loves to push the boundaries of what people think design should be. She loves rebellious, bold, complex designs based in thick layering, building texture, and strong use of color. She also loves to combine multiple elements and mediums in her work, and often bounces back and forth between design softwares and physical media to create.

Her biggest dream is to be able to tell stories, whether it be through writing music, designing album covers, animating movies, or anything in between. She is incredibly excited to start her journey by participating in the Disney College Program after graduation, and hopes to continue doing everything she can to keep designing and creating work to put out into the world.

Thesis Abstract

BEYOND is a multisensory, fully immersive festival experience designed to engage all five human senses. It combines the work of artists around the world in an effort to showcase music in an experimental, avant-garde way. It looks past the typical sound-and-visual-focused approach of a traditional music festival to create a new, more interesting and unexpected way to experience live music. If you could touch the music, feel it between your fingers, what would it feel like? Would the guitar taste like orange slices, or salt and vinegar chips? Would the drums smell like gunpowder, or gasoline? What other methods can be used to relay the feeling of a song to someone who may be missing one of their senses? Is it possible to use perceptual abilities like synesthesia to a designer’s advantage, to make the arts more accessible? BEYOND aims to explore all of these questions and more.

The heart of BEYOND lies in its open arms. It is designed to promote human artistry, innovation, creativity, originality, and inclusivity. Whether its attendees are there to connect, to create, to learn, or simply to listen, BEYOND exists to be an escape from reality and a place where anything can be possible.
