Emma Glynn

Artist Biography

Emma Glynn will graduate with a BFA in graphic design in May 2026, and grew up in Westford, Massachusetts. As a member of the Endicott Honors Scholars program, Emma has been passionate about academics as well as art for as long as she can remember—always drawing, creating, and experimenting with new ways to communicate ideas. Alongside her creative interests, she has always cared deeply about politics, human rights, and the environment, interests that have strongly influenced her work and ultimately shaped her thesis. For Emma, design is not just about aesthetics, but about using visual language to spark thought, emotion, and passion, which she would like to credit to her mother, Lisa Glynn, who has always been an inspiration to her. Outside of designing, she loves to read, draw, bake, and spend time with her loved ones at the beach. She often gets her artistic ideas from music and literary works, especially from mediums where creativity feels raw and emotion-driven. Emma’s goal as a designer is to create work that is both authentic and impactful—work that not only reflects her artistic voice but also engages with meaningful ideas. As she looks ahead post graduation, she is excited to pursue a full-time designer role, where she can continue to grow, collaborate, and create with

Thesis Abstract

Cause Wear is a sustainable clothing brand that reimagines fashion as an active, intentional practice rather than a passive cycle of consumption. Rooted in circular design principles, the brand sources secondhand garments and transforms them through reworking, reconstruction, and the application of original graphics tied to specific social and environmental causes. Each piece operates as both a wearable object and a communicative surface—bridging the gap between personal style and public statement. At its core, Cause Wear is driven by the belief that design is inherently political and never neutral. Every visual choice, material decision, and message carries meaning, shaping how individuals engage with the world around them. By embedding advocacy directly into clothing, the brand positions fashion as a tool for awareness, dialogue, and accountability. Rather than producing new garments at scale, Cause Wear challenges systems of overproduction and disposability by extending the life cycle of existing materials while simultaneously adding conceptual and cultural value. Through intentional design and cause-driven messaging, each garment encourages individuals to align what they wear with what they stand for—transforming everyday clothing into a visible declaration of values. In doing so, Cause Wear not only redefines sustainability as a material practice but expands it into a social and ethical framework, where fashion becomes a site of engagement, resistance, and collective responsibility.
