Artist Biography
Kaitlyn Kennedy is receiving a BFA in Photography with a minor in Creative Arts Therapy. She was born and raised in Massachusetts and has been taking pictures for as long as she can remember. Her earliest pictures were primarily of animals and nature. Through her courses and internships, she learned how to properly light subjects both in and out of a studio setting. Her time at Endicott has shown many different photographic styles, subjects, and opportunities outside of school. Her first internship was with Amy Rose Productions, a commercial photography studio in Worcester, MA. She also interned with Casson-Foster Photographers in Auburn, MA, where she assisted with senior portrait sessions. Taking portraits has become one of her favorite photographic styles. She strives to make her models and subjects feel comfortable and confident and capture the moments they do.

Thesis Abstract
This body of work highlights models in their own clothing styles. I initially set out to try my hand at fashion photography, with an emphasis on the wardrobe. I developed my approach through the combination of carefully chosen settings, student models, and poses that emphasize confidence. The models are both friends and people I connected with through networking who had no prior experience with modeling. Throughout the process I found myself working with the models to help present them in a way that made them feel good while trying something new. I wanted them to wear clothes they were comfortable in and make them feel like themselves. Who doesn’t feel good when they’re wearing a nice outfit? If they were unsure of what to wear I helped them put something together. The locations were chosen to be unique and unusual spots that people might otherwise pass by. For example, the parking garage stairs or the shuttle stop bench allowed for simplicity. My work inevitably combines elements of both fashion photography and standard portraiture, through the poses, locations, and lighting. When the models gaze away from the camera I am able to capture style and confidence in uncommon settings.
