Artist Biography
As a senior Interior Design student at Endicott College, Melissa Montesano prioritizes user needs, while challenging her design capabilities through the use of research to create an impact on society. She has found that the engagement she instills within a community further propels her to become an innovative designer. Through this, she is able to integrate sustainability efforts, based off of current environmental issues. Having invested an immense amount of time to serving the community while completing her undergraduate degree, she feels as though it is pertinent to continue this in her future profession. Melissa’s dedication towards the field of Interior Design empowers her to persevere through collaborative approaches to achieve a desired outcome.
Thesis Abstract
Through the integration of an outdoor experiential learning program, patients with chronic illnesses have been shown to develop stronger leadership skills, social awareness, and mental stability. By means of positive interaction and collaboration, supporters at the foundation promote a space for participants to reach their highest potential. Personal goals are achieved in a setting that is conducive for individual, sub-group, and whole-group learning. This indoor environment provides educational and recreational spaces for the organization’s experiential learning program in preparation to transition participants outside.
