Artist Biography
Caitlyn Fitzsimmons, native to Andover, Massachusetts, is a graduating member of Endicott’s class of 2020. Caitlyn will be graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Architecture. Her time at Endicott has led Caitlyn to pursue a career in corporate design with a focus on sustainability.
From a young age, Caitlyn has been interested in design and architecture. Growing up, she was witness to many residential renovation projects which have influenced her career path. Caitlyn has taken a specific interest in how users interact with built design and architecture. Caitlyn believes that space should challenge a user and that designed space should be an active discovery for all users.
In the past, Caitlyn has collaborated with the nonprofit organization Girls on the Run. Her work with the nonprofit inspired her thesis — empowering adolescent female athletes. Caitlyn’s thesis has become a passion project that aims to educate all generations on the important role sports play in girl’s lives.
Thesis Abstract
Elevate sporting facility supports young female athletes during their transitional years. Elevate focuses on the improvement of athletes’ wellbeing. Through the promotion of both physical and holistic awareness, Elevate provides girls with the tools necessary to overcome barriers placed on female athletes.
