Thesis Abstract

“How can we utilize intergenerational differences to benefit the mental and physical health of seniors and children through education and design?”

Full Circle Intergenerational Center proposes a design solution that bridges the generational divide between Baby Boomers (1946–1964) and Generation Alpha (2010–2025) through spatial integration and shared programming. Rooted in the belief that both physical and mental well-being are strengthened through intergenerational interaction, the center blends residential senior living with early childhood daycare in a community-driven environment. Key strategies include the integration of natural light and materials, universal design principles, adaptable spaces, and collaborative learning zones. Through these elements, mutual mentorships, emotional support, and physical engagement are established. This is a center that can continue generational traditions for years to come, bringing life to its fullest circle.
