Thesis Abstract
Bravewell was inspired by the emotional toll and daily complexities experienced by cancer patients and their caregivers, with the goal of creating a more supportive and manageable path through their journey. With this in mind, Bravewell was developed as a mobile app offering a suite of tools designed to simplify daily tasks and provide emotional connection during treatment. The app includes features such as a calendar to track medical appointments, a journal for users to document their thoughts and experiences, and a group section that allows patients and caregivers to connect, share advice, and encourage one another.
Bravewell aims to go beyond standard healthcare apps by fostering a sense of community, strength, and understanding among its users. The brand name, Bravewell, reflects the courage it takes to navigate a cancer diagnosis and the importance of wellness—both physically and emotionally. The app’s visual identity uses a calming purple palette to represent compassion, support, and healing. The color purple also represents all types of cancers, making this app a unifying and inclusive space for anyone affected by the disease, regardless of their specific diagnosis.
