Artist Biography
Brooke Kamieneski will graduate from Endicott College in Spring 2025 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Architecture. Brooke has consistently earned recognition for her academic achievements, including being on the Dean’s List all four years, nominated for the Kravet Design of Distinction award for Freshman year residential design, multiple projects faculty nominated for student invitational for three years, and IES Design Competition 2nd Place Winner in her Junior year for a custom lighting design inspired by the theme of magic. Brooke is also a proud member of the Endicott College Architecture and Design Club. Currently, she holds the position of Secretary and has helped design and create the look for the IIDA NE Fashion Show student submission. She has also completed three internships throughout her years at Endicott. Her most recent semester-long internship was with Parker Torres Design, which was an amazing opportunity for her to work alongside established and talented hospitality-focused designers. This has led Brooke to start achieving her dreams of working within the hospitality design sector to help produce well-thought-out and beautiful designs. Brooke chose Interior Architecture as a career path because every person spends the majority of their life in the built environment, and it is important to value design and its influences on our daily lives and emotions. Designing for human use through architecture lays the groundwork for design that can produce a beneficial experience and better quality of life. Design gives her the freedom to choose the built environments we live and operate in to achieve a lifestyle where everyone can thrive. Brooke would like to thank her family, professors, mentors, and friends for guiding her through this process, inspiring and keeping her motivated, and supporting her through the tough times.
Thesis Abstract
How can we improve cancer patients’ journey in regards to diagnosis, travel considerations, preliminary care and support, during and after treatment care, family and community support, and the physical and mental struggles that come with the condition?
Radiance Retreat & Rehabilitation Center is a facility that aims to provide hospitality, amenities, and resources to cancer patients and their families before, during, and after treatment. Their goal is to restore, rejuvenate, and relax patients and their families to improve their quality of life during their tough journey. They want to adopt an environment that shines beauty into the design and the patient to uplift confidence and comfortability.
Brooke’s goal is to design a rehabilitation and hospitality center that helps improve cancer patients’ lives through the chronological stages before, after, and during treatment, and better supports communities and family systems throughout with amenities and activities to allow for a design that feels like a retreat rather than a repair.
