Thesis Abstract

Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) is a neurodegenerative disease that leads to irreversible brain and spinal nerve damage. Despite its profound impact, there remains a significant lack of support and resources available to patients and caregivers navigating this challenging journey. Accompany ALS Living and Resource Center is designed to bridge this critical gap – providing support where traditional healthcare ends. This facility will include both a public resource center and dedicated living accommodations designed to ease the physical, emotional, and logistical burdens faced by those affected by ALS. Inspired by the courageous story of  Peter Frates, Bella began her research to offer hope, relief, and a sense of community for future patients and their families.

A special thanks to Nancy Frates, Kaitlyn Wiles-Rosell, and Maureen Finlay for their expertise and dedication in the development of this project.
