Thesis Abstract

Now more than ever, teenagers and young adults need an opportunity to escape the stress of their everyday lives to receive support and more involved treatment at times when their mental health is suffering more than usual. The creation of a mental health retreat center that allows teenagers and young adults to relax and reset their minds while staying for short periods of time will provide the necessary tools and support they need to get back on track. What is Take A Break and why is it special? Take A Break is a therapy practice for teenagers and young adults facing common mental health issues such as anxiety and depression. Patients participate in remote therapy appointments as scheduled. Take A Break is unlike any other therapy practice due to the access patients have to it’s mental health retreat location. When patients are struggling with their mental health more than usual, they may choose to spend a week or weekend at the retreat and therapy center located in South Yarmouth, MA. Here, patients can meet with their therapists during in-person sessions while enjoying the amenities that the oceanfront facility has to offer.
