Artist Biography
“Like streams of light severed through a prism, the human experience is filled with a spectrum of emotions, opportunities, and trials. My mission is to capture the different colors of my life through music: the beautiful, the painful, and even the shocking. By pouring my heart into my music, I can express these colors more vividly than with my words alone. What matters most to me is not how complicated nor impressive my creations are, but rather that other people are able to connect to my music and understand each color I have to share.” – Aiden DeMuro
Thesis Abstract
The End is a heartfelt story told over three musical pieces that captures the apprehension and uncertainty I have felt over the past year towards graduating from Endicott. It features four musicians and two dancers, as well as unique lighting which helps the audience visualize the story. The first movement is a minimalist inspired piece called “The Crow,” which captures the long agonizing suspense felt when you know something awful is coming. For me, this is graduating and losing the culture, friends, and opportunities that I have cherished over the last several years. The second movement is “A Look Into The Mirror,” inspired by musical theater songs and the soundtracks of nostalgic video games and shows. The lyrics reveal a reflective stream of consciousness as I anxiously question the future. In order to maintain hope, the final movement is an upbeat samba titled “Sunset Celebration.” Since I can not avoid graduating, I may as well look back on my life with a positive eye and celebrate what is yet to come, as to carve a hopeful outlook for the future. Saying goodbye has never been easy for me, but The End gave me the opportunity to write one final farewell, and a love letter to the people who have made my life so worthwhile.
