Artist Biography
Lindsey Kasperski is a graduating senior at Endicott College where she is majoring in graphic design. She is from Suffield, CT, but after graduating, plans on continuing her career in the Boston area. Lindsey has always loved art and reading. When she was a sophomore in high school, she discovered she could combine her passions as a book cover designer and has been on that path ever since.

Thesis Abstract
Tyto Press is a publishing house dedicated to amplifying the voices of women, trans, and non-binary authors. These groups are often overlooked in the publishing industry and their books are stereotyped into categories based on the author’s gender that limits their potential readership. Women in particular often face the issue of having overly feminine book cover designs that result in them being immediately dismissed as superficial “chick lit” novels.
At Tyto, authors are connected with a personalized selection of publishers, editors, designers, and other team members who work together to ensure every book receives the attention it deserves to gain a spot on every bookshelf. In terms of design, people do judge books by their covers; that’s what they’re there for. By leaning into that, books can effectively be marketed towards target audiences and even entice other readers to go outside their comfort zone.
