Thesis Abstract
This thesis concerns the examination of the Self versus the Character within a singular person. Through exploration with a variety of songs and characters, as well as using techniques learned from the internship, I was able to experiment with how my Self interacts with different Characters. There was a consistent question asked throughout the process: should I bring myself closer to the character, or should I bring the character closer to me? Being able to separate the Self from the Character keeps a healthy distinction for the person performing, and offers them the ability to play characters that greatly deviate from themselves. This thesis pushes to help provide information from one perspective to inform others on their own.
