Artist Biography
Michele Kaufman is a Senior Interior Architecture student who will be graduating in May. Post-grad, she plans on moving to Boston from Long Island to begin her career in Interior Architecture. Her passion for interior architecture began at a young age and has continued to grow with her through her studies. As an Interior Architect, she believes that her job is to provide a safe and inviting work environment for those who come in contact with her designs. She firmly believes that a space has an affect on the productivity of those who use it. Michele has completed three internships through which she has gained significant exposure to the interior architecture workforce. Studying abroad in Florence, Italy her Junior year gave her the opportunity to study new techniques that helped push her design boundaries. She believes that her past experiences have prepared her for the opportunity to succeed and be a positive addition in a workplace.
Thesis Abstract
Frontline is a PTSD recovery center located in Chelsea, New York and is designed specifically for first responders and essential workers. Mental illnesses are common among frontline workers, PTSD being the most prevalent as it is suffered by 80% of first responders and essential workers. Providing first responders with not only therapy options, but also proactive educational programs so that they are informed of the risks involved with their experiences and how to acknowledge the beginning stages of mental illness is crucial in keeping our frontline safe.
