Artist Biography
Lily Burke is graduating in 2022 with a degree in Interior Architecture. Through her college career and three internship experiences, her passion for interior design has grown. Her main focus has been on residential design. Her thesis project was heavily inspired by her most recent six-month internship in Coronado, CA. The project is a community center located in Coronado that cater’s towards the mental health needs of military families living in southern California. Lily hopes to continue her passion for interior design in the field after graduating.
Thesis Abstract
GEARS is a community center in Coronado, CA that provides opportunities to build a community with fellow military families while also providing counseling and therapy for military spouses and children who experience grief, anxiety, stress, and PTSD. GEARS includes a gym, childcare, a cafe, an indoor garden, and counseling rooms. Through these activities, families will be able to form friendships with Coronado military residents, get the counseling they need, and form a sense of home while they are temporarily stationed here.
