Thesis Abstract

PureWomen is an online community platform for women of color to have access to a safe place to talk about the current struggles in today’s world by sharing personal stories, as well as mental health resources for diverse women.

This is to create a welcoming environment where women can feel comfortable embracing their race and to create positive conversations amongst other women of color. Allowing real, personal stories to be put on my site will allow whoever comes across the page to not feel alone or ashamed of who they are, while displaying activist information and campaign-style displays.

The name ‘PureWomen’ symbolizes our mission to promote positive conversation about what being a woman of color means. With the heartache and mistreatment people of color experience on a day-to-day basis, you can find yourself inspired and safe to further the conversation on how to love yourself and your culture.

PureWomen wants all women of color to feel proud of the color of their skin and the heritage behind it. The meaning of ‘PureWomen’ is to emphasize the message of accepting who you are and where you come from, instead of allowing others to make you feel imperfect. Having darker or lighter skin, darker or lighter features, curly hair, straight hair, hips, lips, thighs, and anything in-between, you are a woman. And a part of PureWomen.
