Ashley Densen

Artist Biography

My name is Ashley Densen and I am a graduating senior of Endicott College studying Graphic Design with a Business Administration minor. I am from Acton, MA, and after graduating, I am moving into my first apartment in Stoneham, MA. In 2020, I created my own greeting card business on Etsy called DensenDesign which is still going strong with almost 8,000 happy customers. I am a hard worker and a great multitasker who is ready to take on any challenge that comes my way. As a young kid, I have always admired graphic design from billboards to items in a grocery store and I knew one day, I wanted to be someone who created designs as well.

Thesis Abstract

The purpose of my thesis was to create a female-identifying gym that focuses on a comfortable, supportive, and inviting environment. I am a consistent gym-goer who loves to work out and I want other people to feel that love I have. Many people, especially females, feel uncomfortable being at the gym, whether they do not like their body and feel judged or they are starting out and feel judged for not being experienced with workouts or equipment. Her Fitness will allow females to work together and be in a judgment-free environment. The gym will create a sense of community so people enjoy going to the gym and have a space for themselves. Working out has a lot of benefits for one’s mental and physical health so it is key to have a gym where one feels happy attending and feeling motivated. They will also unplug from their worries about the outside world and be in a space for her, where she can focus on what they want and their well-being. I developed the brand Her Fitness through four deliverables which consisted of a style guide, advertisement campaigns, signage for the gym, and a website and mobile app. I created a logo and style guide which were applied through each deliverable. The logo has a lightning bolt through the word “Her” to symbolize the power and empowerment of females and how they will feel at the gym. It is simple yet powerful.
