Maggie Renda

Artist Biography

Maggie Renda is a student at Endicott College earning her BFA in graphic design. Her passion for design did not reveal itself until she took a gap year between high school and college. It was during this time that she began reevaluating what brings her joy and what she really wants to do with the rest of her life. After taking a few art courses at a local community college, her future started to become clearer. A few weeks before the start of her freshman year, she took the leap and declared graphic design as her major. From this risk, she found her calling. In her designs, Maggie has a deep love for translating messages and evoking feelings. She enjoys delving into layered, collage-based designs as well as clean, grid-based layouts. Her greatest passions lie in typography and layout design. After a semester spent abroad in Denmark, Copenhagen, these passions only grew larger, nourished by the influences around her. This time abroad allowed her to grow immensely as a person and as a designer. She credits this time as being a pivotal moment in her design career, pushing her to work harder and design more thoughtfully.

Thesis Abstract

Linger is a mindfulness brand and editorial project born from a desire to slow down the way we interact with and move through natural landscapes. The brand centers around “Forest Walk”, an intentional guidebook that invites users to move beyond the “destination” mindset and foster a profound, participatory connection with the natural world. While standard guides often prioritize identification and completion, Linger values attention, pacing, and quiet observation, providing a tactile starting point that transforms the act of walking into a deliberate and restorative experience. The brand embraces a philosophy of stillness in every corner of its design, from its nature-inspired color palette to its focus on haptic materiality. This creates a meditative visual identity that feels intentional and invites a slow, contemplative touch. What sets Linger apart from a traditional guidebook is its focus on emotional guidance; using the natural motif of the spiral, the system moves the user through repeated phases of walking, noticing, and reflecting. This encourages a deeper connection to place that develops through embodied experience rather than just reaching a fixed endpoint. By offering structure for nature walks through intentional pacing, materiality, and organic visual systems, Linger aims to support the reflection and introspection often lost in a culture of speed. It ultimately invites a slower, more intimate relationship with the environment, where the walk itself becomes the destination.
