With a foundation built on perseverance, creativity, and a sincere dedication to his craft, Colton looks forward to carrying these values into his future career.
Colton’s connection to nature is not by coincidence, it is an intrinsic part of who he is. Raised in a rural small town, he spent his childhood running barefoot, having dirt beneath his fingertips, and learning about his environment. Days were filled with rummaging through the woods, developing a fascination with plants and wildlife. Colton has a peace with nature that is unlike any other. He spends his time outside of school and sports on a lake in his kayak, shing in the summertime, taking in all of the scenery and sounds. This bond with the environment continues to shape Colton’s vision as a designer. He is deeply passionate about creating architecture that captures the wonder and appreciation for nature he experienced. Through thoughtful, organic design, Colton strives to honor the beauty and serenity of the natural world, bringing its presence into the built environment and inspiring others to reconnect with the landscapes that have left a mark on him.
Thesis Abstract
This vision comes to life in Colton’s thesis project, Eden Grove, a sustainable mixed-use complex that reimagines the modern city as a living place of renewal. Inspired by the Garden of Eden, the design rises within the concrete and glass canyons of the city, an urban sanctuary where architecture and nature grow together. At its heart, a glass-enclosed communal garden anchors the project, framed by two organic buildings offering residential, commercial, and community spaces. Through green walls, rooftop gardens, natural ventilation, and sustainable materials, Eden Grove blurs the line between the urban landscape and natural life. Light dances through organic forms, and greenery spills across the architecture, creating a space where nature and humanity reconnect. The city’s heart softens once more, a portal back to balance, beauty, and belonging.
