Sophia Nikolaidis

Artist Biography

Sophia Nikolaidis is graduating with a BFA in Graphic Design from Endicott College. She was born and raised in Londonderry, NH. Her artistic journey began with a childhood of colorful messes, discovering early on that her hands were meant for creation. This passion was ignited and fostered by her mother, Kristina Jensen-Nikolaidis, her best friend and greatest supporter, who empowered Sophia to pursue a life of artistic passion and world travel. It is to her mother’s memory and spirit that Sophia dedicates her life and creative work.

Drawing on her lifelong interests in illustration, writing, and photography, she weaves these elements together to build compelling visual storylines and craft experiences that spark meaningful conversation. Throughout her college journey, Sophia gained hands-on experience through internships at McDougall & Duval in Newburyport and KingFish & Partners in Beverly. These opportunities allowed her to hone her skills in art direction, branding, and marketing design, while learning to navigate the creative process alongside professionals to produce narratives that truly connect with an audience. In addition, a transformative semester in Ireland profoundly shifted Sophia’s perspective on design, where the unpretentious hospitality of the local pub culture became the foundational spark for her senior thesis. Post-graduation, Sophia is eager to collaborate with fellow creatives and continue building intentional designs that bring people together.

Sophia would like to thank her father, Christos, and her brothers, Jack and Alex, for their unwavering love and encouragement.

Thesis Abstract

Jensen’s is a contemporary reimagining of the neighborhood pub, designed as a community-centered “third place” prioritizing genuine connection over performative social environments. As an anchor outside of work and home, it offers an inclusive sanctuary where guests can relax and unwind. Whether seeking social energy or a peaceful escape, Jensen’s provides a sense of home and the simple joy of belonging for every individual. The brand ecosystem is built on three pillars: a Visual Identity built on an unpretentious design system to establish an immediate sense of ease; Signage and Spatial Visualization to ensure an environment engineered for accessibility; and Digital and Print Touchpoints that serve as tactile tools to foster interaction. Together, these elements transform the pub into an intentional, analog experience that invites patrons to immerse themselves in the environment and foster genuine face-to-face connection. By embracing the “Everyman” archetype, Jensen’s removes elitist barriers to create a culturally rich atmosphere where community comes naturally—because a true third place belongs to everyone.
