Thesis Abstract
Copperlight Community answers the question: How do young adults in Generation Z navigate the transition from college to independent adulthood, and what social, emotional, and environmental factors shape this period of emerging adulthood? This space is a multifamily building for young adults navigating life after college. For Gen-Z, they are marked by the presence of digital tools throughout their life and a youth impacted by Covid-19, making them unique to previous generations. This space was carefully designed to incorporate the feelings all young adults have as they transition to adulthood as well as the unique nature of Gen-Z. The first floor features amenities that blend the needs of this emerging generation including a furniture store, community room, market, gym, work space, and a hobby space. On the second floor are apartments that range from studios to four-person suites as well as other amenities like laundry rooms, community rooms, and a coffee bar. Through both digital connection and genuine human interaction, this thoughtfully designed space will allow young adults to flourish as they transition into adulthood.
