Thesis Abstract

My thesis project is rebranding and creating a brand identity for LEAP for Education. LEAP is a Massachusetts non-profit organization that offers after school programs to help students succeed in middle school to college. Offering services like student mentoring, connecting the student to local people in industries, summer camps, internships, and college financial assistance. This project is in response to the lack of development in brand identity typically seen in non-profit due to a lack of time or resources. To develop LEAP’s brand I designed:
The logo takes inspiration from LEAP’s name and its mission. The rising curve shape points to a stylized graduation cap symbolize the organization’s goal of students growing to complete their education. The typeface Minerva Modern complicates it with its curves and varying weight.

The brand style guide establishes the organization’s mission, “look and feel”, and of the do’s and don’ts of the brand. For example, it outlines the proper use of typography, colors, use of images. These guidelines communicate how LEAP is a positive learning environment.

The website and mailer establish the brand aesthetic and communicates about the programs in print and digital. While the mailer contains the organization’s mission, its impact, and programs, the website provides further information and including way of donation and registering.

The promotional package design is made to look like a lunchbox to go with the education theme while being fun and youthful. Containing school supplies along with cards with contact info and student success stories.
