Kara Woitkoski

Artist Biography

Kara Woitkoski is from Ballston Spa, New York, which is a small town just outside of Saratoga Springs. Kara is currently finishing up her senior year at Endicott College pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Interior Architecture. She is also working part time as a Design Assistant at Saratoga Kitchens and Baths which is affiliated with Galarneau Builders. From a young age, Kara has always loved designing, and developed her true passion for design through the computer game, Sims. She would spend hours designing the houses for the characters, rather than taking care of them. When Kara was younger, she saved up all her money to buy a Build Your Own Wooden Victorian DollHouse Kit, and spent hours painting and building it from the base up. She also has a love for building and getting the opportunity to get her hands dirty. Kara has repurposed her old backyard fence gate to store and display all of her jewelry and accessories. Her most recent project was last summer when she built her own headboard out of some remaining fence pieces. Kara is excited to wrap up this chapter of her life and start her journey in the work industry.

Thesis Abstract

My thesis, Riverside Roots is located in Riverside California and is a before and after school program that promotes youth health and wellness through constant support for the students physically, mentally, and emotionally. Many children are not performing physically as often or as well as they should be, which is a critical component to developing a healthy lifestyle. There are also children who often spend more time in school and childcare programs and see the staff and faculty more than they see their parents and guardians. Riverside Roots provides a safe and nurturing environment for these children to flourish and grow physically, mentally, and emotionally, all while also focusing on their academics.
