Thesis Abstract

Flori Fauna

The purpose of this thesis was to educate the public about the importance of conservation and the humane treatment of animals through the use of a zoological theme park (zoo plus rides). Through research on the topic, it was clear that there are many things that humans can do to help preserve animals’ habitats. The park was named Flori Fauna Park and Reserve and specifically does not include the word zoo in the name to avoid that association, this is a preserve for animals and not a zoo. The “Flori” part of the name is a verbal pun as it references both “flora” and Florida, where the park is located. Flori Fauna has native animals to Florida as well as animals that are from a subtropical climate similar to Florida.

Through the use of signage and an app, the parkgoers will learn fun facts and information about different animals. They will also learn different ways they can help animals and their environments. Whether it’s through donating or just being educated on the subject, they can make a positive impact on these animals. This thesis also includes fun illustrations of animals and rides that are inside the park. Using the app, you can scan the QR codes on the signs and it will lead you to more information about the specific animal that you are looking at. Learning more information about animals will hopefully lead the parkgoers to want to take charge of the growing concern of environmental degradation.
