Thesis Abstract

47% of high level athletes report struggling with an identity threat once retiring from their competitive career. In order to combat this, a facility was created with collegiate and professional athletes in mind to aid in the transition between life in sport and life outside of sport. Users are encouraged to reconnect with their competitive nature in an effort to relieve a feeling of loss or discouragement once they are no longer solely involved in an intense athletic environment. Surrounding themselves with others facing the same troubles in order to create a team atmosphere and prove that there can be a balance between two worlds.
