Thesis Abstract

Adolescents are particularly vulnerable to experiencing struggles with mental health, yet mental health education and services are insufficient in most U.S. public schools. Consequently, there is a need for adolescents to have a space where they can learn about mental health to better understand themselves and others, and safely and comfortably express their emotions.

Thrive Arts is an after-school arts center for adolescents that not only guides them to prioritize their mental health, but also introduces art as a means of connecting with themselves and navigating difficult thoughts and emotions.
